Blackberry Bold 9000 Review

RIM’s BlackBerry Bold 9000 is touted as the successor to BlackBerry Curve and 8800 models. Major improvements include a more elegant design, HSDPA, HVGA screen and support for Microsoft Office files.

The company has been improving its designs over recent years and BlackBerry Bold 9000 is another innovation that has taken the look to a new level. With rounded corners and a leathery feel, BlackBerry Bold 9000 looks both professional and sexy.

With a 320×480 pixel resolution, the Blackberry Bold 9000 takes a big leap ahead of Curve. Images display sharply on this screen, especially streaming videos. The 9000 is also wider than competing brands, but thinner. Wider dimensions mean a larger screen and keyboard, allowing you to type more easily and comfortably. There is a narrow gap separating the keys from each other, which prevents you from accidentally clicking two keys at a time. However, just like its predecessors, the Blackberry Bold 9000 does not have a dedicated key for common punctuation marks like periods, commas and question marks.

This is the first RIM brand to support HSDPA. This is good news for AT&T subscribers, but Verizon and Sprint BlackBerry phones work just as fast in terms of Internet speed.

The Bold 9000 runs a push-email programme and supports Microsoft Office applications through DataViz Documents to Go. The suite opens MS files and even edits them, though it does not support all document formats recognised by MS Word.
