Of all of the HTC Mobile Phones, the HTC Touch Diamond is the one phone that could rival the iPhone. Using Windows Mobile, the HTC Touch Diamond has one of the best interfaces of the smartphone genre; it is also one of the smallest phones of this type.
Feature wise, the HTC Touch Diamond comes with GPS, HSDPA, Opera Mobile, and Wi-Fi. The benefit of these is that users can easily and quickly access their email wherever they are. Quick downloads are also possible as is surfing the web.
The 3.2 megapixel camera takes decent pictures in places where there is plenty of light. However, there is no flash facility so pictures routinely do not turn out well in poorer light. At a retail price of £400 one has to wonder why the phone doesn’t have a flash, especially when you consider that most other phones at the same price do.
There are several major flaws with the phone. The first is that the touch interface is sometimes unresponsive and slow. This can make anything from checking email to making a phone call frustrating. Those who text a lot will find the new interface to also be frustrating as sometimes the keyboard covers up the screen making it impossible to see what you are typing.
While in theory, the HTC Touch Diamond has many upgrades from previous models and should perform better, there are just enough problems between the keyboard and touch interface to make it a disappointing mobile phone. If HTC Mobile Phones can fix these two problems, the HTC Touch Diamond would be the best Windows Mobile phone on the market.
