Nokia N95 8GB – Did the Upgrades Make a Better Phone?

The Nokia N95 8GB is an upgraded version of the Nokia N95 and for the most part is better.  The Nokia N95 8GB has a much larger screen than its predecessor, which makes viewing documents, videos, and photos much easier.

The interface for the Nokia N95 8GB is also extremely easy to use and the phone is quick to open up programs.  The boot-up time for the phone is also minimal and the GPS functions work quicker than the N95.  The Nokia N95 8GB also supports most of the popular music files and the sound quality is solid.  As for the on-board camera, Nokia also addressed some issues here.  Previously there had been a lens cover but the cover would allow users to accidentally turn the camera on.  On the N95 8GB model, the lens cover is removed so users cannot accidentally turn on the camera.

Despite some of these upgrades, the phone does have its drawbacks.  For starters, it’s a slider phone so if you are the type of person to place the phone in your pocket, then you may find yourself turning it on accidentally.  Also, unlike some other phones at the Nokia N95 8GB price range, this phone does not have the ability to expand its memory.  Also, there is no removable memory card which means you must use a USB cable.

The last drawback is its price.  The Nokia N95 8GB retails for around £230 sim-free, but even at this price it’s still one of the lower priced phones of the smartphone generation.  Still, of all the Nokia mobile phones on the market the Nokia N95 8GB is still a much better mobile phone.

  • I’d skip the N95 and go straight to the N8 series
