LG KS360 Pink – It May Be Small, But It Can Pack a Punch

The LG KS360 Pink is a sleek looking slide out mobile phone that is affordable and packs a punch unlike some other mobile phone counterparts.  Initially users may look at the phone and think it’s large at 17 mm in thickness.  However, some of this thickness comes from the keyboard that slides out.  Speaking of the keyboard, texters will greatly enjoy the keyboard as it is laid out like that on a computer.

The screen is a touch screen and users can dial from the screen without having to open up the phone.  If you don’t enjoy touch screens there are buttons for dialling and ending calls as well.  Calls are clear and the phone supports tri-band GSM coverage but doesn’t have 3G coverage.

The camera does not have a flash so pictures will come out blurry unless the lighting conditions are just right.  That being said the LG KS360 Pink retails for around £69 so the camera is just about right for a mobile phone at this price level.  The built in music player supports MP3 as well as AAC formats.  The memory can be upgraded to 4 GB even though it only comes with 15 Mbytes.

Of all the LG mobile phones at this price level, the LG KS360 is quite impressive.  While some may consider it a small phone it is in no way a small phone in terms of features and options.  Users will be greatly impressed and satisfied with the service they receive from this phone.

BlackBerry Pearl 8120 in Titanium – Does it Deliver?

The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 in titanium for the most part is exactly what you’ve come to expect from Blackberry products.  Among some popular features that come as standard on most mobile phones today, the Blackberry Pearl 8120 in titanium now has Wi-Fi, which makes accessing email, and Internet downloads much easier.

When the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 in titanium was designed, the designers gave it an upgraded camera.  The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 comes with a 2.0 megapixel camera and can now record videos.  However, the camera is still only a 2.0 megapixel device so the photo quality will not be as good as other mobile phones on the market with a higher resolution.

As for the keyboard, you will either love it or hate it.  The texting software will display possible word combinations and the user will then select the appropriate word.  Some people love this feature.  I, on the other hand, find it difficult to use and can do without this texting option.

Despite the camera and keyboard issues, the Blackberry Pearl 8120 in titanium is still a solid phone.  Call quality is excellent and it’s hardly ever a problem to get a signal.  The Blackberry Pearl 8120 in titanium also allows video streaming which comes through rather well and those who will use the phone for checking email will find that it synchronizes well with both business and personal accounts.  Overall, the BlackBerry 8120 in titanium delivers well and users won’t be disappointed.

Samsung G600 – compact slider phone

The Samsung G600 mobile phone is compact and attractive in its design.  Support for 3G networks is not included with this device but users will be happy to know that it is quad band which makes it great for those that travel frequently.  This Samsung mobile phone features a 2.2 inch display which supports up to 16 million colours.

The G600 from Samsung is quite compact.  It is designed as a slider which also contributes to its small size.  The device is 101 mm long by 47.8 mm wide and it is just 14.9 mm thick.  The weight of this phone is 104 grams.  With the included battery, users can expect up to 3 hours and 30 minutes of talk time and around 300 hours on standby.

One of the most impressive features that can be found on the Samsung G600 is the 5 megapixel built in camera.  It has great options like auto focus, flash, and image stabilization to make sure your photos come out looking great.  The camera is also able to capture video clips as well.

There is 55 megabytes of internal memory which can be used to store some of the photos that you take which the Samsung G600.  Users are not limited to this amount as there is a microSD expansion slot included.

Along with a great camera, the Samsung G600 also supports MP3 and AAC playback to increase this mobile phones functionality.  There is also an integrated stereo FM radio included as well.

Sony Ericsson W595 Review

The Sony Ericsson W595 is a slider handset phone with 3.2 megapixel camera.  However, despite moving a few things around, it is almost identical to the previous model, the W580i.  The only major upgrade of the mobile phone was the camera which went from 2 megapixels to 3.2 megapixels.  However, there is still no flash so photos may not be of the best quality.

The audio player can only support four formats which is also disappointing since some mobile phones can support a lot more.  Video wise, the phone isn’t much better as it takes low-resolution MPEG-4 videos.  To make matters worse, Sony Ericsson doesn’t include converter software with the phone.

On the bright side, the Sony Ericsson W595 is a quad-band device, which means that it will function wherever you travel.  Other features of the phone include the high-speed downloads, A2DP Bluetooth, and FM stereo.  The phone’s speaker also produces a high quality sound and good volume.

The call quality is good and there is a minimum of disruptions in service.  The phone retails for around £120 or is free with most contract deals.  Overall, the phone is durable and decent, but I would of liked to of seen a 5 megapixel camera and flash, plus support for more multimedia formats.

Nokia N96 – Is it Worth the Money?

At a retail price of around £350 the Nokia N96 is definitely a high-end mobile phone and of all the Nokia mobile phones it is one of their most prized models.  But is the price worth it?  Well if you are into sleek then you’ll like the Nokia N96.  The black casing and large touch-screen adds to the feel of the high-end phone.  Of course you’ll get the standard features of phones at this price level.  Such features include GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 3G support.

The camera supports 16 million colours.  There is an ambient-light detector that allows users to adjust the light according to the background.  The picture quality was much better than some of Nokia’s other mobile phones however the camera seems to have a few glitches here and there, especially the first time you use it.

The built in memory should be enough for most people and the music player supports the standard audio files.  The phone also gets good reception for the FM radio.  Calls are clear with the phone and there are very few disturbances.

However, the phone does have a slightly cheap feel.  Nokia used plastic around the sides and the phone has a plastic battery cover which could easily break if the phone was dropped. Additionally, at times the phone can be slow.  If you are going to pay £350 for a phone, the phone shouldn’t have these problems.  In my opinion, it should be made of gold.  Further adding to the notion that the Nokia N96 isn’t worth the price tag is that the newest addition to the Nokia mobile phone family, the N97, will out shadow the Nokia N96.  The N97 costs about £100 more than the N96 and the price of the N96 hasn’t dropped yet like one would expect so why pay nearly the same amount for the Nokia N96 when you can purchase the N97 and get a better phone?  In short, forget about the N96.  If you are going to pay this much for a phone, go for the N97.

LG KM900 – An iPhone Rival?

The LG KM900 in silver is a stunning replica of the Apple’s iPhone and in some ways the LG KM900 in silver outdoes the iPhone.  For starters, the LG KM900 is made of more durable materials so it is less likely to fall apart.  However, the screen of the LG KM900 is smaller than the iPhone’s so it makes viewing photos and using other applications a bit more difficult.

The best feature of the LG KM900 is the interface which is a 3D cube with applications on each side.  When you touch the screen the cube moves around until you’ve found the right application.  The other screens aren’t as cool looking, but they are as easy to use.  The camera is a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash.  It’s not the hottest mobile phone camera on the planet, but it is average.

As for the media player, the LG KM900 only holds 15 songs or video clips.  So it’s not really a lot of space for your favourite songs.  Those who frequently text message or check their email via their mobile phone will find the LG KM900 a great asset.  The phone easily synchs well with the popular email programs such as Yahoo!, Google, etc.  The LG KM900 uses a quad-band GSM which makes it usable all over the world.  It also has 3G but that can only be used in Europe.

Of all the LG mobile phones, the LG KM900 is by far the best. If you are considering an iPhone you should also take a look at the LG KM900 because you won’t be disappointed.

HTC Touch HD – Solid and Dependable

The HTC Touch HD is one of eight phones offered by HTC Mobile Phones.  Of these eight phones, seven are touch phones and the HTC Touch HD has the least amount of hardware buttons.  At first glance, the HTC Touch HD is sleek and appealing, but really all of the HTC mobile phones tend to be sleek so this isn’t surprising.

When you really start to examine the HTC Touch HD, you’ll find a 3.8 inch screen that has an 800 by 480 pixel resolution.  This is great for those who may need to squint in order to see anything on the screen from a movie to a text message.  The screen also makes using Windows Mobile easier.  No stylus is needed with the HTC Touch HD because the icons are larger which means a simple touch of your finger is all you need.

HTC Mobile Phones also made the HTC Touch HD only .47 inches in thickness which makes it easy to carry around. The interface is helpful as well since it displays the most used tasks including emails, music, and web surfing.

The phone has decent call quality.  The phone was designed to be used within Europe so those who travel to the US may find the call quality to be diminished.  The phone relies on the 3G network and presently the 3G networks in North America do not support it well enough.

The media quality of the HTC Touch HD is good but could use a bit more storage for files depending on how often you’ll use the multimedia capabilities.   Despite the few drawbacks of the HTC Touch HD, the phone is a good phone that delivers well for its price.

The Samsung M8800 Pixon: Is It All Camera and Nothing Else?

The Samsung M8800 Pixon is the premier phone among Samsung mobile phones in terms of its camera.  The camera is an 8.0 megapixel camera and unlike other camera phones, it actually looks like a camera from the front instead of a phone.  It also has geo-tagging, blink detection, LED flash, auto-panorama shot, and digital stabilization.  The screen is a 3.2” screen that handles 264K colours.  Of all of the 8.0 megapixels phones on the market, the Samsung M8800 Pixon is the slimmest.

However, it seems that Samsung concentrated so much on the camera portion of the phone that they forgot to add some popular features.  For example, the phone has no Wi-Fi connectivity which means you can’t check your email or find out the score for your favourite team.  There is no voice-guided GPS either.  While the phone may have GPS, it’s not really safe to read your cell phone and drive at the same time so I’m not sure why they even bothered with having GPS to begin with.  Finally, there is no stylus or smart dialling.  Many people can do without a stylus so you may find that it’s no big deal.

On the plus side, the Samsung M8800 Pixon camera does have a large touch screen which makes viewing pictures easier.  The camera also allows for document viewing which are uploaded through a USB port.  The phone also comes equipped with Bluetooth.

However, despite some of these great features, the phone is obviously geared toward those who desire to have a camera over some popular phone features, but at £330 for the sim-free version, I have to wonder if it’s really worth it.

BlackBerry Bold: Is the BlackBerry Bold, Bold Enough?

The BlackBerry Bold is just that, bold.  It sticks out like a sore thumb among the other BlackBerry mobile phones which tend to be sleek.  It measures 114 x 66 x 14mm, so slipping it into your trouser pocket will be a bit of a struggle.  However, the display will take your breath away.  As far as mobile phones go, the BlackBerry Bold has the sharpest resolution of all the BlackBerry mobile phones at 480×320 pixel resolution.

The keyboard for the BlackBerry Bold is pretty straightforward since it’s the same as a computer keyboard.  The tiny buttons actually work pretty well and typing should be simple with a minimum of errors.  The keyboard also has a backlight that is helpful in darker places.

In terms of features, the BlackBerry Bold has a good selection.  For starters it comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.  Conference-calling, voice activated dialling, speed dial, texting, and multimedia messaging are also available.  The BlackBerry Bold also supports a 3G network unlike the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220.  Users can expect 400 Kbps to 700 Kbps; however, the phone has the potential to reach 2Mbps.

Additionally, the BlackBerry Bold can support Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Corel WordPerfect, PDF, JPEG, and GIF files.  The built in media player supports a number of music files including MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR-NB, and MIDI.  In terms of video, the users can enjoy MPEG4, WMV, DivX4, and XivD.  The on-board camera is also sufficient.  The 2x megapixel camera has a 5x zoom and users have their choice in picture size.  Also, the GPS system allows users to geo-tag their pictures for later reference.

Despite being put off initially by the size of the phone, the BlackBerry Bold is actually a good phone that holds up well and delivers.

Nokia 6300 Review

The Nokia 6300 is a solid mobile phone that comes packaged in an attractive stainless steel case.  It feels good when you hold it in your hand and it is very easy to use.  There are also plenty of features to keep just about anyone entertained.  The Nokia 6300 also has a very nice two inch screen that can display 16 million colours.

Despite its excellent design, this Nokia mobile phone still manages to remain trim at only 91 grams.  It is 106.4 mm long by 43.6 mm wide and it is 11.7 mm thick.  From the battery that comes included with this device, users can expect to get up to 3 hours and 30 minutes of talk time and 348 hours on standby.

The Nokia 6300 also comes with a decent 2 megapixel camera.  With only 7.8 megabytes of internal memory, users will likely have to rely on the microSD expansion slot which can support cards up to two gigabytes in size.  Users will also be able to play their favourite music on this mobile phone as well.  Support is provided for the MP3, MP4, AAC+, and AAC music formats.

If you want a mobile phone that is great for text messaging, the Nokia 6300 can fulfil your needs.  This device also uses the T9 predictive text data entry mode to help you write text messages even quicker.  The Nokia 6300 is also capable of sending both MMS and email messages which can help you stay in touch with friends and family.
