The Nokia 6301- maybe simple is good!

The Nokia 6301 is your basic easy-to-use mobile phone.  The design is quite simple and it’s not flashy.  The phone measures 106 mm by 43.18 mm by 12.7 mm and weighs 1.4 ounces.  It is light enough but the length could be awkward as some may think it’s not short enough to be a mobile phone.  However, the phone is easy to use.  The keyboard is large enough so you can easily dial numbers and the keypad is backlit.  The screen which is 50.8 mm is large enough so you can view and take pictures.

However, the on-board camera is only 2 megapixels and does not come with a flash.  There is no stability control but Nokia did add multi-shot features, brightness/white controls, and zoom.  Despite these features the pictures are blurry, dark, noisy, and the colours look washed out.

The camera isn’t why you would buy this phone though.  This phone is mainly geared toward those who are interested in the Wi-Fi.  Wi-Fi calls were clear and for the most part sounded as if you were in your home.  Very few calls are dropped and conversations aren’t broken up on the Nokia 6301.  The main issue concerning the Wi-Fi is that the phone takes a few minutes to receive a signal once you’ve been out of reach.  This delay is minimal and you may not even notice it.

Price wise, the Nokia 6301 is among the lower priced phones, which is appropriate for a phone of this type.  Given the price range and the durability of the phone – which was no surprise considering the other Nokia mobile phones I’ve had – the Nokia 6301 would be a good purchase for those looking for a high quality, simple, no-frills mobile phone.

  • A pretty basic phone really.
