When Samsung designed the Samsung U800, they came up with a classy looking phone that some say looks similar to the Nokia 6500 Classic. However, the Samsung U800 has a few more features including a 3 megapixel camera with flash, 4x zoom, video camera, video calling, music player, FM radio, email, text messaging, and document viewer.
The onboard camera is really nothing special. It’s a mid-range camera which is acceptable for a mobile phone. Pictures are clear and the colours tend to be true to life. The music player plays well and supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, e-AAC+, and WMA formats. The phone also uses the 3G network so it has fast downloads and streaming capabilities.
However, while the phone has a number of great features, these features may actually slow the phone down. There are times during texting when you may have to wait between letters while the phone catches up. Even more frustrating is when you have to turn the phone on and off between texts in order for it to “rest” and continue.
In spite of this, the phone is a good value when you consider that you can get it for free with a line rental. Without a line rental, the phone is still somewhat reasonable as it only costs about £120. Regardless of whether you purchase the phone with a line rental or not, if you do much texting you may want to consider another model from the line of Samsung mobile phones since this one can be slow. Other than the texting issue, the phone does perform well and is highly recommended.
This was a good phone in its day. It came with 1GB internal memory
